I built a multi-million dollar company while battling domestic violence making minor changes to my life (and you can too)

Hey Sis,

In 2012 when I established CivilityMS, I had no idea how much and how fast the enemy would attack. Here I was a new “legal” business owner [you can read about that more in my book] working my first federal government contract, underpaid and overworked, and battling unwarranted strikes on my life and well-being from my now ex-husband. The devil is set to kill, steal, and destroy. During this period, I questioned, “Lord, did I marry the devil himself?”

In my email inbox, a pending fraudulent assault charge and government contract…. AT THE SAME TIME! You mean to tell me, I am walking out on faith and facing the enemy trying to get me to walk into a jail. Oh No! You're probably not surprised to learn that I was stressed out of my mind. BUT (this is a big but) I knew that I was NOT going to lose control of my mind. God and his perfect timing brought a woman by the name of Dr. Caroline Leaf into my life.

After hearing her speak at Spirit of Faith Christian Center, I purchased her book “Switch on Your Brain.” The book pairs science with Scripture, asking penetrating personal questions to understand the impact of our thought lives on our brains, bodies, and lifestyles. Boy, did I need it!

This was the beginning of a new day for me. I was actively battling with my ex-husband and for peace of mind, I decided to move out of my half-million-dollar home to stay with the friend/tenant that was staying in my previous home. Therefore, my old neighbors were now seeing me again. And, you know how nosy neighbors can be. How embarrassing!!!!!

However, I decided I was not going to be offended. I was going to be an apprentice. Learning all I can about keeping control of your mind for personal and professional success.

So, how was I going to build my business while rebuilding my life?

The answer was, in my mind.

There was not going to be any change without a shift in change in my mind. I was more determined than ever to turn my abuse into my abundance. I was going to merge my mind with where I wanted to be in life.

And merging your mind doesn’t mean you have to make drastic changes. These minor changes allowed me to build a multi-million dollar business while battling domestic violence.

So let's touch on those minor changes.

Change 1:

Write it down and make it plain.

Consider things like:

  • Keep a journal.

  • Write positive notes to yourself.

  • Start a blog.

  • Write out a plan.

  • Start on that book you’ve always wanted to write.

Whichever ones you choose, keep consistent with them. Give yourself time to get into the swing of things. The most important thing when starting a new habit is getting into a routine. Use someone from your support system as an accountability partner. Set timers on your phone. Whatever it takes. Each time you stick with the commit you are training your brain.

Change 2: Identify areas of your life that don’t support where you want to be

Next, identify the areas of your life that don’t support where you want to be.

For example, I identified that I needed to be selective about well-being how I spent my time and who I spent it with. If I was going to build a business and beat abuse I needed to be all the way tuned in. That meant turning off the television and turning on a podcast. Or, skipping that social event for a seminar. Spending more time on the word than I did on my problems. Those minor adjustments turned out to be very beneficial. Identifying those areas was another step to merge my mind closer to where I saw myself being.

Change 3: Don’t rely on self-help alone. Get professional help.

Women, or people in general, have a bad habit of relying on themselves when facing a problem. Better yet, they’ll talk to their girlfriends who know someone that knew someone who had that same problem. Domestic Violence is not something you deal with without professional help.

From a counselor to an attorney, you need to get involved with professional helpers.

I became a student of domestic violence, so I understood what was happening to me and how I could get out of it unscathed.

  • I spoke with law enforcement experts

  • I joined support groups for women

  • I read books

I had to get my mind acclimated to recognizing what I was experiencing so I could properly handle it.

And just those 3 things alone helped me to become the multi-million dollar business owner I am today.

So while it might be scary to stop doing things you've always done and start a new way of thinking, this is exactly why I encourage you to do it without hesitation.

Making minor changes for a major return can be a big shift and it's easier to do so with support and guidance.

That's exactly why I've put together the Mind Merging Summit for you.

On one impactful day, we have dynamic speakers that are trained experts in encouraging women to fight for their freedom and build from their abuse.

Some amazing presentations related to what we've talked about today include things like:

  • Maintain control of your mind.

  • Survive the attacks on your thoughts.

  • Rediscover your purpose to rebrand your life.

  • Abandon abuse and build a business.

And so much more!!!!

Can't wait to see you there!
