3 ways to save yourself time and money when life seems unfair

Your time is valuable. Only 24 hours in a day, right? Factor in work and business meetings, family time, household tasks, that nighttime yoga or gym class, and making dinner on a daily and those hours become even more sparse.

While it may seem impossible, there are ways to make your time more valuable when facing the stressors life brings. It’s all about the approach. They may take a little bit of extra time and effort up front, but trust me – it’s worth it!

With all that I had going on, I still made the time to decide to save myself time and money from making the same mistakes more than I had to. Whether I was managing my divorce or my business, I recognized the problems, did the work to repair them, and repeated the steps as necessary until I was free.

Recognize

When the enemy first started his attacks, I did not easily recognize it. Why? I was not listening to the right leaders, people, resources to help me see that I was in a situation that I should not be in. I thought because I did everything that I thought was “right” I would be alright. WRONG!

While I’m sure you’d love to get to the point where life is rainbows and sprinkles, it doesn’t happen all at once. It may not happen at all. That’s life. But what you don’t have to experience is anything less than God’s best. One way to do that is by removing the wrong things from your life and start pouring in the right. Pay attention to what and who you listen to.

For example, for me to be able to recognize that I was having a serious issue, I was listening to leaders that spoke the truth and not words of entertainment. In ‘As My leaders go… So Do I,” I explain how key people played an important role in recognizing my problem, me maintaining control of my mind, and surviving the attacks on my thoughts. This was a daily battle.

I saved myself time and money by investing myself with what entered my ear.

Repair

Intentionally planning your repair process can help you avoid costly mistakes. If you go too much with the flow and “fake it til you make it,” there will be little to no progress to show at the end of it all.

Up until recently,  when I was forced, I was a person that sort of let things falls into place. When I decided I wanted to do things “the right way” I did the necessary work to make sure what I was repairing was the right, what I was doing to repair it was right, and how I was moving forward after the repair was right. One way I do that is with consistency in life planning.

Now I do a better job and make time yearly to plan for myself. I review things daily, weekly, and monthly. It may seem like a lot when you glance at these items below, but it isn’t. Most of these only take a few minutes.

Daily Planning – I take time daily to identify the most important tasks of the day and determine the priority of those items.

Weekly Planning – I choose the top 3 tasks that must get done to move me closer to my monthly/quarterly goals.

Monthly Planning – I select which big tasks to work on that will get me closer to my quarterly/annual goals.

Making these times for planning a habit has helped me make sure that I’m taking action that matters. Action that PROTECTS MY PEACE! I focus on completing tasks that are moving me towards my big-picture goals.

Repeat

One of the fastest ways to waste your time is to have to figure out something that you’ve already figured out before.

For example, you have gone through the motions of removing unnecessary people from your circle, filing those papers at the courthouse, or listening to inspirational words and self-help books. You have done all of these items more than once I am assuming as well. Do you have a system in place for these?

Systems are so important when you are fighting to keep your peace present and not the past. Think about creating step-by-step instructions or even making a checklist for what you should do when the enemy attacks. This will help save brain space in the future when you have to repeat a task or even making, when it is time, eliminating items PERMANENTLY in the future SO much easier.

Think of the things you repeatedly do when you have to recognize a problem and repair it. Take one hour per week and develop a system or process. Record this process on paper or through a video recording. File and save.
